CANADIAN TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH GATEWAY

The Canadian Transportation Research Gateway is a website that provides researchers, students, government, and industry with convenient access to evaluated Canadian transportation research resources through a single gateway.

The gateway is a comprehensive, bilingual collection of web-based resources on transportation issues in Canada, covering everything from transportation acts and regulations to airport wildlife management. Users can browse through an A-Z title index or search for information via a keyword search, as well as by subject and by resource types such as organizations and associations, educational institutions, government bodies (federal, provincial, municipal), government publications, journals and magazines and library catalogues. Each entry in the gateway has been reviewed and annotated by professional librarians.

Among other subjects, the gateway lists conferences related to Canadian transportation issues, links to information on careers in transportation, and resource guides, which cite both print and electronic resources.

Visitors to the Canadian Transportation Research Gateway are encouraged to forward any new transportation resources to the Transport Canada Library at ctrg-prtc@tc.gc.ca. Library staff will evaluate new resources before adding them to the site.

The Canadian Transportation Research Gateway was developed by the Transport Canada Library, in collaboration with the libraries of the Transportation Development Centre, the Canadian Transportation Agency, the Transportation Safety Board, and the Transportation Association of Canada. It was officially launched on September 23, 2004 (Information Management Day) at the Government Conference Centre in Ottawa, and was a finalist for the GTEC Distinction Awards 2004, during Technology in Government Week, October 18 to 20, 2004.
