Notice
of Public Consultation on the environmental impact of the liquefied natural gas
(LNG) terminal project at the port of Gros Cacouna
Transport
Canada invites the public to comment on the Environmental Assessment Scoping
Document for the development of a liquefied natural gas facility at the port of
Gros Cacouna.
Cacouna Energy, a partnership of TransCanada Pipelines Limited and
Petro-Canada, tabled
a project that consists primarily in building a pier to receive LNG tankers and
a terminal comprising two storage tanks and
vaporization equipment.
This
project is subject to the Federal Environmental Assessment Process under the Canadian
Environmental Assessment Act. The public is able to consult and comment on the Cacouna
Energy project - Environmental
Assessment Scoping Document,
which is available on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry Web site at
http://www.acee-ceaa.gc.ca
(reference: 04-03-7440).

documents and comments received by Transport Canada concerning the project will
be considered public and will form part of the Canadian Environmental Assessment
Registry. The public will also have the opportunity to participate in other
consultations throughout the environmental assessment process.
Transport
Canada and Fisheries and Oceans Canada are the responsible authorities for
ensuring that the environmental assessment of the Cacouna Energy project is
carried out.
