What we do?

The Transport of Dangerous Goods group ensures that public safety is maintained during transport of dangerous goods throughout Quebec, regardless of transport mode. It also advises industry and disseminates information to the public.

A team of inspectors enforces the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, by ensuring that shippers, carriers and recipients comply with the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations concerning classification, documentation, indication of hazards, and safety standards and rules.

- Education, information and advice to the public and industry
- Inspection and investigation with respect to handling, transport demand and transport of dangerous goods through the entire chain from manufacturer to recipient
- Review of plans for emergencies involving dangerous goods, and application of corrective measures
- Emergency consultations regarding chemicals, emergency measures and regulatory requirements through CANUTEC, a bilingual service available 24 hours per day
