The Sept-Iles region, a major centre for natural resource exploitation and processing, relies heavily on marine transport to deliver its products around the world. Fishing activities are significant in Sept Iles and along the Middle and Lower North Shore. The centre serves this local marine industry. The centre provides almost all marine services available from Transport Canada, apart from vessel registration. This latter activity only occurs in Montreal and Quebec City; complete information, however, can be obtained locally.

Contact the Service Centre during normal business hours for matters related to:

Technical Division:

- Monitoring of loading and transshipment of high-risk cargoes
- Pollution prevention and monitoring
- Inspection of foreign ships under Harbour Control
- Harbour guards
- Monitoring of transport of dangerous goods
