Transport Canada > Transport Canada, Quebec Region - Regional Profile

Transport Canada and Transport Quebec commissioned the KPMG consulting firm in November 1998, to produce this study, in cooperation with Agra Monenco. As the condition of the existing infrastructure and traffic volumes vary from one region of Canada to another, Transport Canada has undertaken regional freight transport studies to identify the main commercial routes.

The study covers the freight transportation system in Quebec and its main gateways to the interprovincial and international markets. The land transportation system is examined in particular. Connections between marine and air transport and the land transportation system are also analysed.

On January 26, the results of a study on freight transport in Quebec were officially released in Montreal. The Association Québécoise du Transport et des Routes (AQTR) joined Transport Canada and Transport Quebec for this presentation at a conference lunch.
