Structure and Operations

What we do?

The Aircraft Certification group ensures that all aircraft in service in Quebec Region airspace operate under the best possible mechanical conditions. Therefore, its inspectors check whether aircraft repairs and/or modifications (even those made in other countries) comply with the most stringent safety standards. To carry out this mandate and ensure that mechanical designs developed during aircraft repair or modification comply with original airworthiness standards, Transport Canada delegates approval of these designs to certified organizations.

Services

The Aircraft Certification group provides the following services:

- Approval of aircraft modifications and repairs,
- Issuance of supplemental type or limited supplemental type certificates,
- Issuance of repair design approvals,
- Expertise in and approval of foreign-made modifications,
- Acceptance and monitoring of Design Approval Representatives, Design Approval Organizations and Airworthiness Engineering Organizations.
