Structure and Operations

What we do?

The System Safety team is responsible for constantly monitoring and evaluating the safety of the aviation system. Division specialists advise regional management by identifying hazards to aviation, assessing the risks of these hazards and analysing aviation incident trends.

Services

The System Safety Division conducts a safety awareness program both within and outside the Department, to inform the aviation industry of identified risks and encourage it to adopt safe practices and procedures.

Provide safety education and awareness programs

designed to inform the aviation industry of identified risks and encourage it to adopt safe practices and procedures.

Manage the Civil Aviation Daily Occurrence Reporting System (CADORS)

, which stores information on aviation occurrences.

Participate in the organization of the annual Canadian Aviation Safety Seminar (CASS) providing an opportunity to interact and share any safety concerns with the aviation community.

Assume the Minister's Observer function to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB), to obtain timely information on occurrence investigations conducted by the Regional TSB office and other agencies.

Service Centres

System Safety Division offices are located at Transport Canada Service Centres in Dorval and Quebec.
