What is noise management?

Transport Canada assumes this responsibility to receive public complaints regarding the noise impacts of aeronautical operations in Canada and to take steps to attempt (in co-operation with all parties involved) to reduce the impact of noise on citizens' quality of life.

Transport Canada's Position

Transport Canada is attentive to public opinion and is willing to receive and respond to public complaints regarding noise issues pertaining to Canadian aeronautical operations.

Our role in noise problem situations is to act as a facilitator with partners to attempt finding reasonable solutions leading to acceptable compromises. We believe that this process can lead to negotiated agreements that can lead to implementation of noise abatement measures.

Transport Canada will only intervene directly with coercive measures (regulations) in extreme cases.

Do you want to file a noise complaint?

For noise complaints, we offer you an interactive complaint form which is available in PDF format (Portable Document Format, file size 70 KB) which will download in approximately 64 seconds on a 28.8 connection and may be viewed using Adobe® Acrobat Reader version 3.0 or higher. This reader may be downloaded free of charge by visiting the Adobe® web site.. To help you file efficiently your noise complaint, you can access information by pressing here.

Please note that Transport Canada doesn't manage complaints related to Dorval and Mirabel airports
