Errata - 2002 National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) Guides

Guide for Reporting to the NPRI - 2002:

Refer to page 24, 3rd sentence, 2nd paragraph under the heading "By-products"; the following sentence should be deleted "...By-products are not included in the calculation of reporting thresholds for NPRI Part 1B, 2, 3 or 4 substances..."

Supplementary Guide for Reporting Criteria Air Contaminants (CACs) to the NPRI - 2002:

Refer to the first sentence, second paragraph of Section 2.6.1, page 5; this sentence should read "...Additionally, CAC emissions from stationary combustion equipment used in the activities listed in Box 1 Table 1 or Box 2 of Figure 1 must be included when determining whether your facility met a CAC threshold and when reporting to the NPRI..."

Supplementary Guide for Reporting Criteria Air Contaminants (CACs) to the NPRI - 2002:

Delete the last sentence of Section 2.6.3, page 9: "...The CACs resulting from other sources at the facility, including those listed in Table 2, should not be included in the facility's release estimate..."

Refer to Appendix 1, Case Study 1:

Page 40, Step 5a - Identify the appropriate method; the sentence should read "...Knowing the VOC content of all solvents our solvants, the appropriate estimation method is mass balance..."

Page 43, Step 9 - Reporting information for stacks with a height >= 50 metres above grade; the first sentence should read "...If the facility has a stack with a height greater than or equal to 50 metres above grade that emits CACs, additional information may must be required reported..."

Refer to Appendix 1, Case Study 2:

Page 50, Step 4 - Add emissions from all sources, table entitled "Total Facility Emissions"; the "Annual Boiler Emission (Tonnes)" should read:
TPM = 0.036 Tonnes
PM₁₀ = 0.036 Tonnes
PM_2.5 = 0.036 Tonnes

Refer to page 50, Step 4 - Add emissions from all sources, table entitled "Total Facility Emissions"; the "Total Facility Emission (Tonnes)" should read:
VOC = 23.19 tonnes

Refer to page 50, Step 4 - Add emissions from all sources, table entitled "NPRI Reporting Determination"; the "Total Facility Emission (Tonnes/Year)" should read:
VOC = 23.19 tonnes

Refer to page 51, Step 5 - How to report facility emissions; the "Total Point Source Emission (Tonnes)" should read:
VOC = 23.19 tonnes

Refer to page 51, Step 6 - Reporting information for stacks with a height >= 50 metres above grade; the first sentence should read "...If the facility has a stack with a height greater than or equal to 50 metres above grade that emits CACs, additional information may must be required reported..."

Refer to page 51, Step 6 - Reporting information for stacks with a height >= 50 metres above grade; the NPRI reporting threshold for VOCs for a "stack >= 50 metres above grade" should read 5.0 tonnes/year and not 0.5 tonnes/year.
