Installing and Running the Registry Patch

Environment Canada has developed this registry patch to repair a problem emanating from the
MDAC 2.5 installation. The registry patch removes the following key from the Windows registry,
which Microsoft indicates should correct the problem:

If you have any other concerns or questions about installing and running this
software... please have your Information Technology staff contact your
nearest regional NPRI office prior to installation. The
Web site will be updated as necessary should any new issues be discovered.
INSTALLATION
Download from the Web site:
If you download the registry patch from Environment Canada's Web site, please
go to the directory that you saved the file to.
- Ensure that the NPRI Reporting Software is installed.
- Save the attachment to a directory on your hard drive.
- Unzip the file you just saved using software such as "PKZIP"TM or "WinZip"TM, using the password: patch
Running the Registry Patch
Please note: This patch only runs under Windows!
- Ensure that the NPRI Reporting Software is installed.
- Ensure that the two files, MDAC_Patch.exe and RegEditP.ocx exist in the same directory where you saved the registry patch.
- Double-click the file MDAC_Patch.exe.
- Click the "Execute" button.
- Note the informational messages provided.
- Click on the "Exit" button.
- If the software patch is on your hard disk, you may now delete the files relating to this patch – MDAC_Patch.exe, RegEditP.ocx, and readme file.
