Develop a procedure for the electronic management of ICAO State letters and relevant working papers.

ICAO has begun making State Letters and Working Papers available in electronic format. As ICAO liaison, the International Aviation Branch will respond by applying technology to this opportunity. Documents will be stored on TC servers and electronic notification will be sent to OPIs via e-mail. States Letters and our responses, working papers and our position papers will be archived in a similar manner to allow for easy background and historical reference.

Milestones: An electronic mail account for AARJ has been established and ICAO Headquarters and ICAO Regional Office in Mexico City will be sending electronic copies of State and Regional letters to the account starting in the Second Quarter of 2000. The electronic storage within the International Aviation Website of the year 2000 State Letter is currently operational. Annual archiving on CD-ROM will be implemented at the end of the 2000 calendar year.

Measures/Indicators: There is no tangible measure or indicator linking the results of this project with the key result areas of Flight 2005. Distribution, storage and retrieval response time for documents will be enhanced. Electronic archiving will facilitate background research on specific issues.
