International Aviation Division
The International Aviation and Technical Programs Branch is responsible for providing advice and support on
international civil aviation matters. International Aviation participates in and
coordinates technical input for the International Civil Aviation Oganization (ICAO) and
other international civil aviation bodies and provides strategic guidance to the Canadian
Permanent Mission to ICAO. This Branch coordinates within Transport Canada Civil Aviation
and inter-departmentally, other international aviation initiatives such as the North
American Aviation Trilateral (NAAT) and bilateral/trilateral liaison requirements of a
special nature. International Aviation also provides a foreign liaison role with respect
to technical visits by foreign delegations.
Information Management / Information Technology (IM/IT) Division
The Information Management / Information Technology (IM/IT) Division of International Aviation is responsible for all Civil Aviation's automated information systems owned or developed primarily by Transport Canada. This internal division was created in support of Civil Aviation Directive (CAD 29), which provides the framework by which information systems are planned, designed, developed, maintained and evaluated.
The Technical Programs Division provides specialized engineering expertise, products, services, advice and support to Civil Aviation clients within Transport Canada. The Division strives to improve and promote technical excellence and co-operation respecting safety and cost-effectiveness within the Canadian aviation community.
The Division's work program encompasses a number of ongoing activities to achieve its mandate including: research and development, technical evaluations and assessments, provision of technical documentation, promotion of advances in technology, provision of technical leadership, assistance in the development of technical regulations/standards, inspection/auditing support and the national/international harmonization of regulations, standards and procedures.
