Environmental Mind Grind
The Environmental Mind Grind
The Environmental Mind Grind (EMG) is organized by the EECO-Heroes (Environmental Educators of the Central Okanagan) and is an exciting jeopardy-style trivia contest that tests the knowledge of grades 4 to 12 students on local environmental issues. Teams sign up in January and have until April to learn the study package information.
Team enthusiasm heats up on game day, April 22, as students vie for fabulous prizes including pizza and ice cream parties for the entire school, trendy vests and hats. Winning teams go on to play in the BC Playoffs for a chance to win $1000 for their school. Participating teachers have claimed that the event not only “motivated students to learn more” but the information was a “teaching package fully prepared” that “fit very well with the curriculum.”
