Kelowna’s population is now estimated to be 105,000 (the 2001 census estimated 96,235 residents).
Population and demographic statistics are vital in planning for the future; they help identify the makeup of a community and assist in making predictions for the community’s future needs. The principle source of information is Statistics Canada, which performs a national Census every five years. Another source of information is BC Stats, which estimates the population of communities in the province between each Census.
Regional District of Central Okanagan
The City of Kelowna is part of the Regional District of Central Okanagan which encompasses Peachland, Lake Country, Westside Communities and unincorporated communities on both sides of Okanagan Lake. The City of Kelowna is the largest community in the Regional District.
