Public Hearings

The Local Government Act requires that certain development matters be scheduled to a public hearing in order to give the public an opportunity to provide input to Council. Notification of all items scheduled to public hearing is published in both local newspapers in Kelowna, approximately a week before the hearing. Notification is also delivered directly to the owners and occupants of surrounding properties.

There are certain other matters on which Council seeks public input and these are usually dealt with during the regular meetings that follow Tuesday evening public hearings. The procedures for receiving input on these matters are similar.
