Subdivision Approval

The Subdivision Approving Officer reviews all subdivision applications to ensure compliance with the Provincial Land Title Act and the City’s Official Community Plan. (Subdivision includes the creation of several properties from one or more existing properties, the realignment of existing property lines and the consolidation of two or more properties into one.)

A Preliminary Subdivision Layout Review usually requires 11 weeks. A pre-application meeting should be held with City staff to confirm general suitability of the subdivision proposal prior to submitting a formal application.

Once an application has been received staff conducts a site inspection of the property, evaluates and assesses technical data and conducts meetings with the applicant to resolve items of concern. Preliminary Subdivision Layout Review (PLR) is then either issued with conditions of approval or refused.
