Shore Zone Protection

Okanagan Lake has played a vital role in shaping Kelowna’s social, environmental and economic identity throughout the city’s history. It is one of the most visible natural features in the city, it is the main source of our drinking water and it provides recreational and cultural opportunities for the entire Okanagan Valley.

In January 1997 Council endorsed the Lake Okanagan Shore Zone Plan, which provides direction for the management of Okanagan Lake waterfront within the City’s boundaries.
