Permit Process

The time required to process a Development Permit application depends upon the complexity of the application. Relatively simply applications can be processed without City Council’s involvement within approximately one week, provided there is no residential development abutting or adjacent to the subject property. More complex Development Permit applications may require review by the Advisory Planning Commission and approval by City Council – these applications may take 12 to 16 weeks to process.

Prior to consideration by either the Director of Planning and Corporate Services or City Council, staff will liase with the applicant to ensure that the appropriate site inspections, technical reviews and servicing requirements have been addressed. If the Advisory Planning Commission has reviewed the application its recommendation will be considered prior to approval of the Development Permit.
