Director David Graham
The Recreation, Parks and Cultural Services department provides recreational and cultural amenities for the community.
- Opportunities for recreation and leisure through the Sport and Recreation Division, the Parkinson Recreation Centre, Sport Kelowna and many other recreation facilities.
- Maintenance of City-owned properties and facilities through the Civic Properties Division (see below);
- Park planning, development and operation through the Parks Division;
- Arts and cultural development and operation of the Kelowna Community Theatre through the Cultural Services Division;
- Numerous other recreation and leisure opportunities through community service contracts - see Partnerships.
Civic Properties
Civic Properties staff administer and supervise City properties by:
- coordinating the design and tendering activities required for capital expansion;
- coordinating and supervising construction projects;
- maintaining all facility HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems;
- initiating, coordinating and supervising maintenance and service contracts;
- administering leases and concessions;
- operating and maintaining waterfront amenities such as boat launches and docks;
- maintaining building security systems and administering security services contracts; and
- supervising trade services provided to all City departments (e.g. signage, painting, carpentry).
