Canadian EarthCare Society

The Canadian EarthCare Society is a multi-issue environmental organization with a mandate to protect the earth’s environment through advocacy, education and public involvement. EarthCare was founded in 1982 and has developed and initiated numerous projects and campaigns since that date. The Canadian EarthCare Society has been active in the Okanagan on several initiatives including:

  • Working with the City of Kelowna to implement a Pesticide Notification Registry
  • Working with School District #23 to implement a ban on the use of synthetic pesticides
  • Convincing the BC Government to maintain recreation sites, trails and forest service roads with access on Crown land
  • Building and operating the first backyard composting education centre in Kelowna
  • Assisting in the research and negotiation for the creation of more than 260 parks in BC
  • Initiating the establishment of the Enhanced Watershed Advisory Committee for Mission Creek to develop a holistic plan for watershed management and protection
