Background
Last summer the type designator B407 was added to the APLS table in accordance with
the designator used by ICAO. After considerable discussion, Headquarters has determined
that the designator BH407 would better suit our needs. Any licences issued with the
former designator will be reissued to reflect the new designator BH407.
A proposal will be submitted to CARAC to add the following information to the Table
in CAR 421.40, 2. Helicopters, under BELL Helicopters:

Action
Please use the designator BH407 when issuing a type rating for a Bell 407
helicopter.
