Annual CAFC Values for the Motor Vehicle Industry
Annual CAFC values are currently calculated for each company
that submits fuel efficiency data under the Fuel Consumption Program. Some of these
companies have acquired or been merged with other companies. This means that a parent
company is responsible for commitments under the Fuel Consumption Program not only for
itself but also for companies and subsidiaries that the parent owns. For example, if
Company A acquired Company B, Company A would be responsible for ensuring that Company
Bs fuel efficiency data was submitted. Company Bs fuel consumption results
would be included when calculating a CAFC value for Company A.
Due to the voluntary nature of the Fuel Consumption Program there are no penalties
incurred by companies who fail to meet the CAFC goals for any year. The tables below
show that the Canadian new passenger car and new light-duty truck fleets have met the
CAFC goals for each year, although some individual companies have not.
