the region contributes directly to this vitality by enabling almost 750,000 people to
travel effectively, economically and ecologically every day.
For all these regular and occasional users, our Web
site is intended to simply and effectively reflect the dynamic efforts made by AMT and the
public transit companies to offer quality service that is well adapted to the needs of
citizens and visitors to our metropolitan area.
A few words on our agency
AMT plans, integrates and coordinates actions
related to public transit across the metropolitan area. By adopting a firmly
metropolitan point of view, AMT makes it possible to apply new ways of doing things such
as:
integration and complementarity of the various public
transit systems, fares, and tickets and passes in use on its territory;
review of financing methods to ensure greater equity
and generate new revenues;
pooling of the various partners' know-how, skills and
competencies.
This new approach to public transit requires the
implementation of true joint action mechanisms, centred around decision-making and
action. Thus, AMT acts as a unifying force, even a catalyst, with the metropolitan
stakeholders.
