Transport Canada is responsible for Ship Safety, the Protection of Life,
Property and the Marine Environment.
Prairie and Northern Region's Marine branch has offices located in
Winnipeg and
Edmonton.
Marine staff carry out the application and enforcement of
regulatory programs and initiatives of ship inspection and certification,
and ship source pollution prevention. The branch develops and administers
the Arctic marine regulatory regime.
