Parachuting
|
Transport Canada, Civil Aviation does not regulate the sport of parachuting; however, because the sport uses aircraft, pilots, and airspace regulated by Transport Canada, there are certain regulations and exemptions that have a direct application on it's conduct in Canada.
Parachuting equipment, student training courses, the training and certification of parachuting instructors are not regulated by Transport Canada or any provincial government. representative to the Federation Aeronautique Internationale, (FAI), and the Canadian Associates of Professional Skydivers, (CAPS), for information regarding Drop Zone affiliations, standards, practices and certifications.
The regulatory provisions relating to parachuting are outlined in section 602.26 and sections 603.36 to 603.39 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations, and the associated Standards.
An application for parachute decents into a build up area or over an assembly of people must be submitted to the Department in accordance with the appropriate regulatory standard. Other than these circumstances, parachute decents into or through controlled airspace may be conducted in accodance with the conditions of a regulatory exemption.
Additionaly, aircraft operated specifically for parachute decents are also exempt from the regulatory requirement to have an Emergency Locator Transmitter on board the aircraft.
