Maintaining your Medical Validity

Once you've met the medical requirements and have been issued a Medical Certificate, routine aviation medical examinations and staying healthy during the full medical validity of your document are just as important as staying current on the aircraft you fly.

Personal medical issues do arise from time to time, and they can affect your fitness to safely operate an aircraft. Your safety and that of others with you, in the air or on the ground are your responsibility as a pilot.

If a medical issue or a question does come up, consult your Civil Aviation Medical Examiner for advice or contact the Civil Aviation Medicine Office, toll free at 1-877-726-8694.

Some of the more common questions and related guidance material is posted here for your, and your physicians, reference.

The medical standards are outlined in the CARs Standard. The specific medical criteria that you are assessed against are also listed there.
