Welcome to OWNERS

Welcome to the One Window to National Environmental Reporting System (OWNERS) Web site.

OWNERS is an on-line reporting mechanism being used by Environment Canada, provincial and municipal governments and private sector organizations to collect environmental data from industry. It was developed in response to industry requests to streamline and simplify environmental reporting requirements. OWNERS also provides a platform for government to collect environmental information in a more timely, efficient and cost-effective manner, and to improve the quality and accuracy of data. The system is secure and easy to use.

To date, seven federal, provincial, municipal and industry programs are using OWNERS to collect environmental data. They are:

• Environmental Protection Agreement for Refractory Ceramic Fibre Industry
• Environmental Emergencies Regulations
• Ontario Ministry of the Environment Regulation 127/01
• Alberta Environment, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act
• Canadian Chemical Producers Association National Emissions Reduction Masterplan (NERM) Survey

OWNERS provides a flexible and adaptable framework that will enable other programs and agencies to be added over time. It is a "no wrong door" solution to regulatory and voluntary reporting of environmental information and data. Links are provided to several other on-line reporting applications.

OWNERS is a flexible reporting mechanism that over time will consolidate many of Environment Canada's reporting requirements into a single integrated solution. It will decrease the reporting burden on Canadian businesses, improve compliance with Canadian environmental regulations and increase the accuracy and timeliness of data collection.
