Description
The National Sector Team for Space (NSTS) is the principal mechanism for the
development and implementation of strategies to support the interests of
Canadian space companies on world markets.
Created in 1994, the NSTS is chaired by the Director of External Relations of the
Canadian Space Agency. Members include representatives of other Federal
departments and agencies (including Industry Canada, Foreign Affairs and
International Trade, the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing, the Communications
Research Centre and the Export Development Corporation), all ten provinces, and
over forty companies and industrial associations, the latter representing over
90% of space industrial output in Canada.
The NSTS meets approximately once a year, to exchange information, address specific
thematic issues and develop (and monitor progress on) international business
development strategies and products. Between meetings, members remain in
contact on relevant issues and to implement strategies and projects. More
details on the functioning of the NSTS can be found in the Charter, elsewhere
on this site.
The CSA is committed to working with its partners in Canada with a view to supporting
the competitiveness of Canadian space companies on world markets. The
activities of the CSA's External Relations Directorate in this area complement
those of other CSA directorates involved in space system development or
research and development activities.
