Science Advisory Committees and Working Groups

Terms of Reference and Procedures

The purpose of the Science Advisory Committees is to provide advice to the Canadian Space Agency on scientific matters within the realm of specific science discipline areas. The mandate, scope, composition, procedures, and meetings of the committees are presented here in more detail.

Science Advisory Committees

Space Exploration Advisory Committee (SEAC)
Meteorite and Impact Advisory Committee (MIAC)
Space and Atmospheric Environment Advisory Committee (SAEAC)
Physical Sciences Advisory Committee (PSAC)
Life Sciences Advisory Committee (LSAC)
Joint Committee on Space Astronomy (JCSA)

Science Working Groups

The Space Science Program and its designates also participate in a number of International Working Groups and Strategic Planning Committees that have been convened to discuss multilateral issues such as increasing the global understanding of climate change, the scientific utilization of the International Space Station, Mars exploration, etc.

The CSA is a member of the following working groups:

Astrobiology Working Group (AWG)
The International Microgravity Strategic Planning Group (IMSPG)
Mars Exploration Program Analysis Group (MEPAG)
International Mars Exploration Working Group (IMEWG)
International Advanced Life Support Working Group (IALSWG)
