SCISAT: Ground Segment

SCISAT-1 Logo

The Ground Segment consists of a Science Operations Centre (SOC) based at the University of Waterloo and a Mission Operations Centre (MOC) in Saint-Hubert, Quebec with second ground station in Saskatoon.

The MOC will be the primary ground station for commanding and for receiving data from the spacecraft. All commanding of the spacecraft bus and the ACE instrumentation will be performed by the MOC. The spacecraft will gather occultation data produced by the ACE instrument and download it to the MOC. The raw science data will be forwarded to the SOC, via the MOC, where it will be validated, calibrated, analyzed and distributed to the ACE Science Team and archived. MOC will also maintain the health and safety of the spacecraft.

The Science Operations Centre, led by the Mission Scientist, Dr. Peter Bernath, is responsible for all scientific aspects of the mission including science activities, system management and maintains external Interfaces with the MOC.
