Commercialization Office

The mission of the Canadian Space Agency is to lead the development and application of space knowledge for the benefit of Canadians and humanity. Part of the mandate of the CSA is also to promote the transfer and diffusion of space technology to and throughout Canadian industry and to encourage commercial exploitation of space capabilities, technology, facilities and systems.

The Commercialization Office has the mandate to promote and make the most of the commercial potential of space capabilities, technologies, facilities and systems with an aim of maximizing the social and economic benefits of the Canadian Space Program. Its main functions are to provide intellectual property management of the Canadian Space Program and to support technology transfer.

The Offices houses three complementary areas of activities:

Intellectual Property Management: To secure intellectual property, and to license and commercialize technologies developed under the Canadian Space Program.
Technology Diffusion Program: To help companies identify and acquire space technologies for the development of terrestrial products and services.
Earth Observation Application Development Program (EOADP) promotes the development of innovative applications that will maximize the utilization of Earth observation (EO) satellite data generated by CSA-supported missions.
