General Import Permits (GIP):

12 September 2000 - Update on Coveralls

1) The EICB has been made aware of two instances where clients received information which was incorrect that has resulted in shipments of restricted coveralls of Sri Lankan and United Arab Emirate origin arriving in Canada without the required quota to allow for their entry.
2) Please be advised that coveralls as well as overalls are included in sub-category 5.4.
3) Product coverage of category 5.0 under Agreement Item 005 will include coveralls as well as overalls unless they are excluded from the country arrangement. These exclusions are listed as notes at the base of the country listing in the Handbook of Import and Export Commodity Codes, pages E6-1 to E6-45.

Third phase of the Quota Elimination under WTO Agreement
on Textiles and Clothing (ATC)

Canada has removed the quotas on certain clothing and textile products on January 1, 2002.
