This section describes the contribution that the communications
service industries make to the overall Canadian economy. The focus is
on gross domestic product (GDP), employment, salaries, capital
investment and price trends. Table 1-1 shows the relationship between
the economy and its two major divisions: goods and services. Table 1-2
provides a financial overview of the communications service industries
which includes telecommunications services and broadcast distribution.
