Aids to Navigation Program
Marine Aids (to navigation) Modernization ProjectThe Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is continually looking at new and better ways of doing business to meet the needs of mariners into the 21st century. The Marine Aids to Navigation project is part of the broader CCG modernization to improve upon the efficiency of CCG programs to deliver the best possible service to Canadians. The mandate of the Aids to Navigation program remains unchanged as it continues to provide aids to navigation in Canadian waters in order to facilitate safe and expeditious movement of maritime traffic to support:
Marine Aids Modernization (MAM), led by the Aids to Navigation program, is applying best practices and incorporating new technologies to ensure that it is using the right combination of electronic and conventional aids to navigation that better meet the needs and expectations of today's mariners. Marine safety is a shared responsibility. While the CCG seeks to provide an efficient aids to navigation system, mariners must take it upon themselves to ensure they have the necessary equipment, training and knowledge to use this system to their benefit. This site will be updated as information becomes available and will remain the primary information source for the MAM project. We encourage you to visit this site frequently for future updates.
Should you require any additional information regarding the Marine Aids Modernization project feel free to contact the national project leader at chateauverta@dfo-mpo.gc.ca. |
