Welcome to the Office of Aboriginal Initiatives. We are a division of Student Affairs whose mandate is to assist the growing Aboriginal student population of Lakehead University. More specifically we help with Aboriginal Programs and services offered on and off campus.
Our mandate is to provide leadership in Aboriginal affairs and to advance, within the University community, an understanding of Aboriginal culture, heritage and language through activities which heighten the awareness of Aboriginal issues and identity. Furthermore we serve as a liaison between the Aboriginal community and the University and have responsibilities for Aboriginal initiatives in academic programming, Aboriginal academic support services, Aboriginal community relations, and fundraising.
