Canadian Forces Transformation Ceremony

OTTAWA – General Rick Hillier, Chief of the Defence Staff, will preside over a ceremony on Tuesday, January 31, to stand-up four new operational commands – Canada Command, Canadian Expeditionary Force Command, Canadian Special Operations Forces Command, and Canadian Operational Support Command, as well as the dissolution of the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff Group.

The new commands become operational on February 1.

Following the ceremony, media will have brief media opportunities with each of the new commanders as well as the Chief of the Defence Staff:

Note: Media must arrive no later than 10 a.m. to allow time for registration and equipment set up. The media registration desk will be outside the main entrance to Salon D. Media will be required to wear a media pass which they will receive upon registration.
