In the spotlight
Industry Workshop at this year's Berlin Film Festival.
On February 10, 2006 international film representatives are invited to a full-day workshop at the Canadian Embassy on Leipziger Platz 17, 10117. The day will feature panel discussions and presentations on various topics that relate to film making with Canadian counterparts and shooting on location in Canada. Most interestingly, the producers of the Canada-UK co-production SNOW CAKE will talk about the making of this year's Berlinale opening film and reveal the many advantages of shooting movies in Canada. At around 6 pm, international producers are invited to a networking reception that will offer them the opportunity to meet representatives of the Canadian film industry on a one-on-one basis. Elections in Canada on January 23, 2006
On the advice of the Prime Minister, the Governor General, by proclamation on November 29, 2005, dissolved the 38th Parliament and gave instructions to issue writs of election. January 23, 2006 has been set as the polling day and the writs of election are to be returned by February 13, 2006. New presence for Canada in Berlin - On April 29, 2005, Canada has officially opened a new building designed to house Canada ’s Embassy in Berlin, Germany. Located in the heart of the city, the Embassy has been designed and built to reflect Germany ’s importance to Canada as a G8 partner and a central player in the European Union. The building mirrors the diversity and distinctiveness of Canada ’s regions through the use of a variety of materials from different Canadian regions.

Government of Canada releases International Policy Statement - April 19, 2005 - The Government of Canada tabled in Parliament Canada's International Policy Statement - "A Role of Pride and Influence in the World", the country’s first integrated plan designed to strengthen Canada’s role in the world.
