Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

MTP and CAP Participants

  1. The Policy on Learning, Training, and Development replaces the policies related to the MTP and CAP programs, effective April 2, 2006. Which policy should participants refer to between January 1st 2006 and April 2, 2006?

Until April 2, 2006, MTP and CAP participants will continue to refer to their current program and salary administration policies.

As of April 2, 2006, participants will refer to two directives that will stem from the Policy on Learning, Training and Development: one pertaining to program administration, and one to salary administration.

Information on the alignment of MTP and CAP and the design changes to the programs is available in the What's New section of the MTP and CAP website.

  2. Will the Policy impact on the educational component of MTP and CAP?

The educational component of the programs will continue to be provided by the Canada School of Public Service. As all other employees, participants will have to undertake the required training in order to obtain their signing authorities. Participants who already have signing authorities will have to validate their knowledge within the one-year time frame allowed by the Policy in order to maintain their signing authorities.
