Employment Policies are being reviewed in order to build a new
coherent/horizontal ‘core’ policy suite that is reflective of the goals of the
PSMA and better connected to the evolving business of government. There is a
notion of standards across government. However, for operational reasons
departments need different solutions for different and shifting business
realities. It must be recognized that departments are in separate businesses
with different cultures, clientele and history. It means modern employment
policies, policy only where needed, flexibility where necessary.
