OTTAWA - January 31, 2006
In a ceremony presided over this morning by General Rick Hillier, Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), command of all CF operations was transferred from the Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff (DCDS) to Canada Command, Canadian Expeditionary Force Command, Canadian Special Operations Forces Command, and Canadian Operational Support Command. The new commands assume management of and responsibility for all operations as of February 1, while the DCDS Group dissolves on the same date.

Special Edition - This edition of the Safety Digest has two "Front Pages," featuring the Safety Policy Statements of the Commanders of two new Canadian Forces Commands - Canada Command and Canadian Expeditionary Force Command.

Moving ahead with CF Transformation, an intranet site has been created as a resource for all CF Transformation-related information. The site will be updated regularly and will be the central point of reference for all documents, news and public affairs products dealing with CF Transformation.
