Paving Project Scheduled for Coxheath Interchange

The Coxheath Interchange on Highway 125, near Sydney, will be completed this summer as a result of a tender announcement by the Department of Transportation and Public Works.

The tender is for grading, gravelling and paving of the ramps for the interchange which will be Exit 5A on Highway 125 and for the connecting roads to the widened Sydney River bridge. The total distance of the work involved is about 3.5 kilometres.

The tender closes on Friday, Mar. 3, and the project is scheduled for completion by the end of August.

"Highway 125 provides an important connection between Highway 105 and the Sydney area," said Transportation and Public Works Minister Ron Russell. "Completion of this work will ease the path of traffic on Highway 125."

The Department of Transportation and Public Works' highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
