NAFTA CHAPTER 11 NOTICE OF INTENT

February 15, 1999 (4:15 p.m. EST) No. 28

The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade today released a NAFTA Chapter 11 Notice of Intent recently submitted by a U.S. investor, Pope and Talbot Inc. The document was released to serve the interests of greater public transparency in Chapter 11 investor-state disputes.

The Government of Canada has invited the company to consult on the allegations contained in its Notice of Intent.
