APPOINTMENTS TO THE
CANADIAN COMMERCIAL CORPORATION
International Trade Minister Sergio Marchi today announced the appointment of Douglas Patriquin as President of
the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC), and the re-appointments of Helen Gillespie, Leonard McNeil, André
Trépanier, John Banigan and Kathryn McCallion to the Board of Directors of the Corporation.
Douglas Patriquin has been CCC Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer since 1993. Prior to
joining the Corporation, he served as Assistant Secretary at Treasury Board of Canada (1988-93), General
Director and Secretary-General of Energy Options at Energy, Mines and Resources Canada (1986-88), and
Assistant Deputy Minister at the Saskatchewan Department of Energy and Mines (1982-86).
Helen Gillespie is Vice-President, Contract Packing Services, of Sweet Ripe Drinks Ltd. of Mississauga.
Leonard McNeil is Partner, Financial Services Group, with Grant Thornton of Halifax/Dartmouth.
André Trépanier is Partner and Chartered Accountant with KPMG Canada in Montréal.
John Banigan is an Assistant Deputy Minister, Industry Sector, at Industry Canada.
Kathryn McCallion is Assistant Deputy Minister, International Business, Passport and Consular Affairs at the
Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and Canada's Chief Trade Commissioner.
Canadian Commercial Corporation is wholly owned by the Government of Canada. It provides a wide range of
export contracting services to help Canadian exporters land and complete international sales contracts. In 1997-98,
CCC received orders worth over $1 billion on behalf of Canadian exporters from customers in 48 countries and
11 international organizations.
