FOREIGN AFFAIRS EXPANDS TRAVEL INFORMATION WEB SITE
Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham today announced the expansion of the Department of Foreign Affairs and
International Trade's Travel Information Web site. The site puts detailed information on over 225 countries and regions at
the fingertips of global travellers.
"This improved Web site provides travellers and travel planners with valuable information," Mr. Graham said. "By keeping
Canadians better informed about foreign destinations and alert to any potential pitfalls, the Government of Canada is
making it easier for people to plan and enjoy trouble-free international trips."
Canadians can now log on to the Travel Information site--located at http://www.voyage.gc.ca/dest/intro-en.asp--to access
a host of new features. Prospective travellers will be able to view a map, receive general information about a country, and
learn about current political situations that could affect their travel plans. Detailed information about safety and security
conditions, health issues, entry requirements, and currency and banking are also available to Canadians on-line.
Frequent travellers, travel media and members of the travel industry can also subscribe, free of charge, to the Department's
Daily Travel Updates. This e-mail-based system indicates changes to the Current Issues page and highlights Travel Reports
that have been updated in the last 24 hours.
