CANADA CONDEMNS TERRORIST BOMBING IN ISRAEL
Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy strongly condemned today's terrorist
bombing in Tel Aviv and offered his sympathies to the victims, their families and
the people of Israel.
"At this time of terrible pain and suffering, our thoughts and prayers are with
the innocent victims of this cowardly act," said Mr. Axworthy.
The Minister also expressed Canada's continuing support for the Middle East Peace
Process. "We must not allow the actions of extremists to destroy the hopes for
peace and reconciliation in the region. The differences that divide Israel and its
neighbours can only be resolved through dialogue and negotiation," stated Mr.
Axworthy.
The bomb, which went off in a downtown Tel Aviv café, killed three people and
injured many others.
