NEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED TO EDC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Honourable Art Eggleton, Minister for International Trade, today announced the
appointment of Marcel Dufour as a Director on the Export Development Corporation
(EDC) Board. He replaces Mr. Jacques Laurent and will hold the position for a two-year period, which takes effect immediately. Mr. Dufour, presently retired, was
formerly a senior advisor at SNC-Lavalin of Montreal, Quebec.
"The knowledge and expertise that Mr. Dufour has gained in the field of
international business will prove to be an asset to the Corporation," said Mr.
Eggleton. "He is a welcome addition to the EDC Board of Directors."
EDC helps Canadian exporters compete in world markets by providing a wide range of
financial and risk management services, including export credit insurance,
financing to foreign buyers of Canadian goods and services, and guarantees. EDC is
a financially self-sustaining Crown Corporation that operates on commercial
principles and reports to Parliament through the Minister for International Trade.
