MARCHI TO VISIT WASHINGTON
Minister for International Trade Sergio Marchi will visit Washington, D.C., on
July 9 to discuss a variety of trade issues with United States Trade
Representative Charlene Barshefsky and other senior officials.
"It is important, in my first few weeks as International Trade Minister, to meet
with representatives of our largest and most important trade partner," said Mr.
Marchi. "Canada is committed to working with the United States under NAFTA and on
further trade liberalization in this hemisphere and in global markets."
Some of the topics expected to be discussed include the Free Trade Area of the
Americas, Russian and Chinese accession to the World Trade Organization, and
various bilateral and multilateral trade issues.
