CANADA DEPLORES BUS BOMBING IN PAKISTAN
Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy today deplored the April 28 bombing of a
bus south of Lahore, Pakistan, in which more than 50 people were killed.
Responsibility for this attack has not been claimed.
"Canada extends its sincere condolences to the families of the victims of this
most tragic and senseless event," said Mr. Axworthy.
This attack followed other recent bombings in the province of Punjab, but Sunday's
blast was one of the most violent in the history of Pakistan. "Canada continues
to be concerned over the increase in violence in this region and hopes for an
early end to this trend," added Mr. Axworthy.
