BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY TO VISIT CANADA
Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy today announced that British Foreign
Secretary Malcolm Rifkind will visit Ottawa on May 30.
"I am confident that our discussions will contribute to the strengthening of our
bilateral relations and to the advancement of transatlantic ties," said Mr.
Axworthy.
The ministers' discussions will focus on transatlantic relations and European
security. They will also discuss UN reform, Commonwealth issues, Hong Kong and
international action to promote a ban on anti-personnel land mines.
The British Foreign Secretary will also meet with Prime Minister Jean Chrétien
later in the day.
