PETTIGREW ANNOUNCES FUNDS FOR
QUEBEC EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew is pleased to announce that projects submitted by the École des
Hautes Études Commerciales, Montreal, and the École de technologie supérieure, Montreal, have been
selected for funding under the Development of International Business Studies Program. The Program's seed
funding, provided over three years, aims to assist academic institutions in offering high quality international
business training.
"We recognize the important contribution that Canadian universities and colleges make to our prosperity," said
Mr. Pettigrew. "The École des Hautes Études Commerciales and the École de technologie supérieure will play
an active role in training today's and tomorrow's exporters, and will make Canadian industry more competitive
around the globe."
The École des Hautes Études Commerciales will develop a course on the Americas within its master's program
in management sciences. The École de technologie supérieure will develop an international component within
its bachelor's degree in engineering to prepare its students to work or establish business firms abroad.
The other institutions that were selected are:
• University College of the Cariboo, Kamloops, British Columbia
• Capilano College, North Vancouver, British Columbia
• University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta
• University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
• Saskatchewan Indian Federated College, Regina, Saskatchewan
• Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario
• Collège Boréal, Sudbury, Ontario
• University of Moncton, Moncton, New Brunswick
